What is an Incorrect Plate alert?

An Incorrect Plate alert is thrown when one of your assets receives a license plate toll (LPT), but the license plate number on the LPT does not match the license plate number in the tollogic™ database.

Toll Collection Context

Toll agencies collect tolls by reading the toll transponder installed in an asset. If the transponder does not read, for any reason, the agency will capture an image of the asset’s license plate, find the asset in a state or proprietary database, and issue an invoice for the toll. This toll invoice, known as a license plate toll (LPT), may appear on your regular electronic toll invoice or mailed as a physical letter.

Because LPTs take more time and resources to issue, they are typically 25% more expensive than transponder tolls. Regional premiums vary for LPTs.

Please keep the toll transponder and license plate together on every asset to prevent license plate tolls and toll mismatches. If a transponder or license plate needs to be moved or removed, please update all relevant details within tollogic™ and your toll manager.

Incorrect Plate Alert

When an asset incurs a license plate toll (LPT), tollogic™ will attempt to match the license plate on the toll to a license plate in our database. If no license plate matches, tollogic™ will then attempt to match the LPT details to telematics from all assets in your fleet. If an asset within your fleet was located at the same toll plaza at the same time as the LPT, then the asset will trigger an Incorrect Plate alert.

Next Action

To prevent further LPTs, please verify this asset’s license plate and transponder details in tollogic™. If the plate number on this asset that triggered the alert should match the number on the LPT, please update the license plate number accordingly in tollogic™.
